Kmart’s August Living range has arrived, and as usual it’s chock-full of stylish pieces for your home at affordable prices.
But with so many new Kmart homewares pieces landing in stores, it can be tricky to know which ones are actually worth adding to your home and which are better left on the shelf.
BHG’s Senior Content Producer Jade Coull got a sneak peek at the new range. Here are the Kmart August Living pieces she’d buy, and the ones she’d skip.
What we’d buy from the new Kmart range
For Jade, this one solves a problem she didn’t know had such a simple fix: no rewiring, no bedside clutter, just stick-and-go lighting.
“I don’t have room to put a lamp on my small bedside table, nor do I have the time or money to rewire the room so I can have wall lights. These are a game changer. They’re rechargeable and stick onto the walls with tape, which is both space-saving, functional and stylish.”
This chopping board is functional enough for the kitchen and pretty enough to leave out.
“I want to put my chopping board to work while knowing it’ll look stylish on display. The colour options and arch feel so trendy. The best part is they’re dishwasher-safe so it’s one less dish to wash up by hand every night!”
For anyone short on space but big on style, this modular sofa flexes to fit your room, not the other way around.
“A genius solution for people who want a generous feeling lounge with little space. You can arrange the pieces to suit your room’s layout (keep them together or separate them into two lounge chairs), and you can purchase an extra block chair if you have space for a larger size. Plus, the green feels modern and could suit any space.”
What we’d skip… for now
It’s a case of “love it, can’t fit it” for this one.
“Ottomans are a luxury in the sense that you need plenty of space to have them. Sadly, living in an apartment, I don’t have the space. So I’d give this product a pass (though it does look so cute!).”
Stylish but not super functional.
“I remember seeing DIY tutorials where people were using bowls to create this bubble leg look, so it’s definitely on trend and at a decent price point,” Jade says. “But personally, I prefer functionality and would opt for a coffee table with drawers or extra storage space.”
On-trend, yes, but we’re not convinced this one’s worth the spend.
“Chrome may be in right now, and I can appreciate how stylish they look, but I don’t see these being something I’d use. I’d rather a proper jewellery box because I find trinket bowls can create more clutter,” says Jade.
