Have you recently upgraded your kitchen with a new ceramic cooktop, and now you’re unsure how to clean it? Don’t fret. We spoke to an expert to find out exactly how to get your cooktop sparkling clean every time.
BHG Digital spoke to Dominic Wong, the Home Products Category (Cooking) Manager at Westinghouse to answer all our burning questions when it comes to cleaning ceramic cooktops.
How to clean your ceramic cooktop
DIY stain remover
Create your own DIY stain remover by mixing warm water, baking soda, olive oil and dishwashing liquid. Apply the paste to your cooktop and leave it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes before wiping off any remnants with a damp cloth or paper towel. Remember to make sure your hob has cooled down first before cleaning!
Avoid abrasive cleaners
Many people tend to use abrasive cleansers or scrubbing spongers like steel wool to clean the burn stain residue on their cooktops. But these will inevitably scratch and permanently damage the surface of your ceramic cooktop! Instead, Westinghouse recommends using a metal cleaning scraper that prevents stains by helping remove spills before they become baked on.
Choose a smart cooktop
Avoid leftover burn stains and residue altogether by investing in new smart cooktops with an easy cleaning surface. Unlike other cooktops, Westinghouse’s 90cm 4 Zone Ceramic Cooktop includes full glass ceramic hob with touch controls that is easy to clean and eliminates dirt traps.
