The last thing you want to do at the end of the day is clean.
However, waking up to a messy house will likely cause stress that could be avoided.
Luckily, there’s a simple compromise and the best part is it will only take you ten minutes.
Before hitting the sack, spend five minutes speed washing all of your dishes. The Kitchn recommends spending the next five minutes cleaning the sink and you’re done.
Additionally, when the time does come to clean your entire house, it’s recommended that the kitchen is tackled first. For many, it’s the least favourite room to clean and usually the one that requires the most work, so it helps to tick it off first.
Having a clean kitchen is also said to help you consume fewer calories. According to research published in the journal Environment and Behaviour, people with a messy kitchen consume more calories than those with a tidy one.
“The notion that places — such as cluttered offices or disorganized homes — can be modified to help us control our food intake is becoming an important solution in helping us become slimmer by design,” said Brian Wansink of Cornell University about the study.
“It’s important to know whether a food environment can actually cause you to, unknowingly, overeat.”
