Dyson releases its first-ever dedicated wet floor cleaner

The Dyson WashG1 tackles wet and dry debris in one easy go.

Dyson, a brand synonymous with innovative home appliance technology, is once again disrupting the floorcare market with the launch of its first dedicated wet floor cleaner, the Dyson WashG1.

This innovative floor cleaner promises to revolutionise cleaning routines by tackling both wet and dry messes in one easy go, leaving behind a hygienically clean surface.

“Over the years, a vast array of wet floor cleaning formats have emerged to help us tackle this chore, yet users’ expectations are often left unfulfilled when it comes to stain removal, pick-up performance and floor finish,” says Charlie Park, Vice President of New Product Development, Dyson Home.

“Dyson engineers solve the problems others ignore and we thrive on the challenge of creating better technology. The Dyson WashG1 is the result of this; our first dedicated wet machine to wash hard floors, properly and hygienically.”

What exactly does the Dyson WashG1 do?

Unlike traditional mops that simply spread dirty water around, the WashG1 uses a combination of hydration, absorption and extraction technologies. This innovative approach ensures a truly clean finish, free of lingering grime and bacteria.

“Most of us vacuum our homes regularly,” Mr Park says. “But whilst wet cleaning is considered a necessary chore globally, many of us don’t know why we do it beyond the vague notion of hygiene. In fact, cleaning with water is essential to rehydrate and remove tough, dried-on stains.”

The WashG1 boasts several features designed for a superior clean and hassle-free maintenance:

  • Highly absorbent rollers: Dual counter-rotating rollers, made from a microfibre with an impressive 64,800 filaments per cm², effectively absorb spills and trap dry debris.
  • Pioneering separation technology: Dirty water and debris are separated at the source, eliminating the need to touch contaminated components. A separate dirty water tank allows for easy and hygienic disposal.
  • Self-cleaning mode: For added convenience, the WashG1 features a self-cleaning mode that flushes the system with clean water, ensuring a fresh start for your next cleaning session.

How does the Dyson WashG1 stand out from other floor cleaners?

Additionally, the WashG1 empowers users to personalise their cleaning experience. Three hydration control modes (low, medium and high) allow you to adjust the water flow based on the type of debris and floor surface. A boost mode also delivers a concentrated surge of water for stubborn stains.

For effortless cleaning throughout your home, the WashG1 even has a full-width roller head for edge-to-edge cleaning and a low profile design that allows for easy access under furniture.

How does the Dyson WashG1 differ from the Dyson Submarine?

With Dyson releasing new inventions so frequently, it’s easy to get confused! While both tackle wet messes, the WashG1 and Submarine have distinct functions. The WashG1 is a dedicated wet floor cleaner, using fresh water and self-cleaning rollers for a hygienic clean.

Meanwhile, the Submarine is a wet roller attachment for the Dyson V15 vacuum, ideal for spot cleaning spills. Think of the WashG1 as a mop replacement, while the Submarine offers a convenient add-on for your existing Dyson vacuum.
