Ronni Kahn AO, in our opinion, is an Aussie icon. This powerhouse, best known for setting up the food rescue charity OzHarvest, has had a huge impact in Australia since moving here in the ’90s. She’s a well-known name, but it’s not very often she gets to talk about her own passions and interests.

As BHG editor, I wanted to find out more about what makes this intriguing person tick. We sat down, rolled up our sleeves, and revisited an old love of hers: pottery. As we worked our respective wheels, we delved into how Ronni lives and breathes an inherently creative life.

“I thought it would be like riding a bicycle, but it’s not quite,” Ronni says, laughing at our combined initial failures at the wheel. The last piece of pottery she remembers making is a “Wiggly, wobbly vase – much like the one I’m making right now!”

But pottery, like other creative endeavours, has taught her some valuable lessons. “It’s much harder than it looks,” Ronni says, “but the end result – much like anything you put an effort into – the end result is pretty likely to be phenomenal.”
