What is rattan?

Rattan can be found in Australia, Asia and Africa, and is a climbing, vine-like palm, not similar to wicker or bamboo. Before being harvested, their stems vary from 1 – 2 inches wide and as long as 500 feet. They are cut and dried under the sun before being shipped to furniture manufacturers who transform it into various pieces found in the home.

How is rattan used?

There are many ways to use Rattan in furniture. Some examples are mirrors, chairs, lamps, tables, baskets, sporting goods and birdcages.
