Reader project: A simple cabinet makeover with striking results

A little paint makes a world of difference.

When Telma Garcia spotted the Ikea Hemnes cabinet on Gumtree, it was love at first sight. Only problem? It was the wrong colour.

“I wanted a cupboard that could be used as linen storage, and it also needed to have drawers at the top, glass doors and specific measurements,” Telma told Better Homes and Gardens Online.

“Charcoal is a recurring colour throughout my house so I painted it to match the feature wall behind my bed and ensuite bathroom,” she said.
