If you’ve tried to google a recipe in the last few years, you would have come across the foodie blog RecipeTin Eats.
The brains behind the delicious recipes is Nagi Maehashi. She’s a self-taught cook living in Sydney and just released her cookbook book, RecipeTin Eats: Dinner.
RecipeTin Eats: Dinner
Since its release on October 11, The Sydney Morning Herald says it became the highest-selling title ever by a debut Australian author in its first week. If that wasn’t enough, it was also the highest-selling non-fiction book in the country.
Speaking to The Herald, Nagi says, “I am just like everybody else. I shop where everyone shops, and I don’t go to gourmet stores … The thing that really resonates that people say to me is that I’ve somehow managed to guess the recipes people want.”
RecipeTin Eats: Dinner features 150 recipes from the 37-year-old cook, 130 mains, plus 44 essential extras – sides, sauces, and breads. Some are fan favourites from the blog, but most are new recipes. Each recipe has a QR code for watching a how-to video.
150 recipes to try
While coming up with 150 recipes might sound like a challenging task, for Nagi, it was the opposite.
“Honestly, the hardest part with the cookbook was which 150 recipes to include, and every week the hardest part is which recipes to show [on my website] because the list of ideas is endless and I experiment a lot.”
“A good selection of recipes”
Dinner currently has a 5-star rating on Booktopia, with all reviewers raving about the recipes.
“This book has some great recipes and features, such as the QR code to the videos. I have been a longtime fan of RTE and was excited for the secret recipes only found in this book,” said one reviewer.
Another added: “I’m a big fan of the RecipeTin Eats blog, so I was over the moon when I knew Nagi was producing this book. It doesn’t disappoint.”
“It’s a great sturdy book with fantastic pictures, clear instructions as always, a good selection of recipes, and of course, those fantastic videos linked with a QR code on each dish. I’m really enjoying it.”
