How to fold a fitted sheet
BHG editor Dora Papas shows you how to fold a fitted sheet.
Fitted sheets are great when you’re making the bed, but knowing how to fold them after you’ve washed them is often a challenge. So if you’ve got a linen cupboard full of clean, scrunched up sheets, this guide on how to fold a fitted sheet will help keep it neat and tidy.
How to fold a fitted sheet: Step-by-step instructions
- Lay the sheet on a flat, clean surface, such as a table.
- Grab one corner of the fitted sheet, then grab the opposite corner.
- Fold the two corner sections over your hand, so the seams on the inside of the corners are covering your hands.
- Tuck each corner that you’re holding into the corners on the opposite sides.
- Keep hold of the tucked corners and shake the sheet so that it is as smooth as possible.
- Take the part of the sheet that’s in your right hand over to your left hand and flip the fabric from your right hand over.
- Lay it on the table (or other flat surface).
- Smooth it out. At this stage, the elastic part of the fitted sheet should all be together.
- Fold the longest part of the sheet into approximate thirds so you have a thin rectangle shape. Then fold that into thirds to end up with a neat, approximate square.
So, there you have it! A simple way to fold fitted sheets into neat squares. And if you want to make sure all your sheet sets are nicely stacked in the cupboard, you can also check out our guide on folding them like a pro.
