If you’re an over-packer, then a rolling suitcase is a must.
Gone are the days of working up a sweat lugging your things from one destination to another, as long as you have a rolling suitcase to do all the work for you, that is.
Suitcases are designed with handles and wheels, making them easy to carry and roll through airports, train stations, and other travel hubs. This portability reduces the physical strain of carrying heavy loads over long distances.
With all the luggage options on the market, it can be hard to select the right one. We reached out to Samsonite for advice on choosing a luggage that’s right for you.
“When selecting what luggage is right for you, opt for a lightweight case to ensure it doesn’t take up valuable packing space. Strong and robust to handle the rigours of travel,” a spokesperson for Samsonite says.
The first thing to consider before selecting your suitcase is the duration and destination of your travels.
“Choose a smaller suitcase to avoid overpacking and keep your items secure, reducing the risk of breakage during transit. Think of your suitcase as your rolling wardrobe – plan your outfits ahead of time and bring a suitcase that caters to the trip length and purpose. For instance, a carry-on or small checked bag is ideal for short trips, rather than a larger checked bag.”
“The destination definitely impacts the luggage you choose. For short trips, weekends away or business trips, selecting a carry-on can negate the need to check in luggage. For longer trips, a suitcase with expandability means you can bring home shopping and trinkets.”
The other difficult choice is whether to opt for a hard-shell, or material luggage.
“With Hard shell suitcases you have more colour choice, are easier to clean and generally very light weight. However, they can scratch if a luggage cover is not used. Soft shell suitcases are very popular among many travellers, often include outer pockets and a traditional travel look. They can however stain if spilled on.”
