Celebrate Australia-wide cultural events

This February, Lunar New Year kicks off on February 13 in most cities and towns, with celebratory festivals and food events across the nation. Usually lasting around 15 days, don’t miss out on toasting to the Year of the Horse for 2026.

1. Adelaide Fringe Festival

When: 20 February – 22 March

Where: Various venues in South Australia

Australia’s biggest wonderland for culture seekers. Adelaide Fringe Festival is an annual arts festival that celebrates art and culture from across the globe. With over 8000 artists bringing their works to Adelaide each year, it’s definitely not an experience to pass up on.

From music and performance art to drag comedy, there’s a show for every kind of arts enthusiast. Some events are free, with some shows ticketed or booking-based. Head to their website so you don’t miss out!

2. WOMADelaide

When: 6 March – 9 March

Where: Adelaide Botanic Park, Adelaide

WOMADelaide is an open-air music and art festival from around the world. WOMAD stands for World Of Music Arts & Dance, making this the perfect experience for those wanting to go on a journey of cultural discovery. With Australian artists like Baker Boy performing, markets and food stalls, you’ll be able to enjoy music and art over a full weekend of fun.

3. Echo Festival

When: 13 March – 15 March

Where: Swansea, Tasmania

The East Coast Harvest Odyssey or ECHO Festival is where incredible food, wine, live music, art and storytelling collide. Held in Swansea, this 3-day event celebrates the Tassie east coast lifestyle, with a special focus on the sharing of Tasmanian Aboriginal knowledge. With seafood luncheons, live music, bush food experiences and much more, you’ll get an in-depth experience of life on the Tassie coastline.

4. Thomas Dambo’s Giants of Mandurah

When: Throughout 2026

Where: Secret locations in the Peel Region and one in Perth.

This kid-friendly art experience is an outdoor installation of magical wooden sculptures called Giants of Mandurah (created by artist Thomas Dambo). Find wooden giants hidden all over the Peel Region of WA, and see thier beautiful composition. This exhibition is free to experience, and is the perfect weekend scavenger hunt for children to partake in.

5. Pretty Woman the Musical

When: February to August 2026

Where: Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne

See singer Samantha Jade play Vivian in the musical version of the hit movie Pretty Woman. With an original soundtrack, this musical is bound to become your new favourite!

6. Million Dollar Fish Season 11

When: October 2025 – March 2026

Where: Darwin and the extended Northern Territory

Register for Australia’s richest fishing competition and fish the Northern Territory for your chance to win $1 million. Fish in different regions of the Northern Territory, including Arnhem Land, Kakadu, Katherine and the Tiwi Islands. If you catch a tagged fish, you may win up to $1m or other amazing prizes.
