Autumn is usually seen as a time to stay in and cuddle up in front of a cosy movie, but down in Victoria, they’re doing it differently. The annual Tesselaar Kabloom Flower Festival is opening it’s doors this weekend, and there’s a whole circus (including a literal circus act!) of fun to be had.
If frolicking through fields of flowers is your kind of thing, this festival is the perfect day out for you. Running from March 29 to April 27 in Silvan, Victoria, every day is open to families to enjoy the wonderful array of colourful flowers.
Here are 5 of our favourite reasons why it should be your next family weekend activity:
1. Festival first: there’s a Ferris wheel
After walking around the fields and getting up close and personal with all of the blooms, you can see the magic in a different way. The surprise new addition to this year’s display is a Ferris wheel!
See the flowers from the sky with a ride! The Ferris wheel will give you the perfect birds-eye view of the flower fields, and you’ll be able to see all of the tessellating patterns from high in the sky.
Or, take a tractor ride around the farm so you don’t miss anything in the giant flower display. The colours will blur into a rainbow as you travel past each row.
2. Mesmerising flower fields
Not only does this flower festival grow beautifully coloured flowers, but it also shapes them into geometric designs. With waving rows of cosmos, sunflowers and snapdragons, you’ll be hypnotised!
There are specific pathways that visitors must use throughout the flower farm, however, there’s still ample opportunity to get that perfect family photo together amongst the flowers. This display is definitely one of the most selfie-worthy backgrounds we’ve ever seen!

2. School holiday activities
During the Easter school holidays, it can be difficult to find an easy activity to do with the kids. If you’re ready to take a mini road trip, then visiting the Kabloom flower festival is definitely in your best interests. Over the break, there will be numerous kid-friendly activities to participate in, including bubble shows, face painting, enchanting fairy tale sessions, and even drumming workshops.
And if you’re willing to chase the kids while they hunt, you can enter into their daily Easter Rabbit Hunts (14/4/25 – 21/4/25) and search high and low for furry fugitives.
3. The circus!
Circus Oz’s ‘Now for Wow!’ has taken residence on the Tesselaar flower farm for the duration of the Kabloom Festival. Acrobats and jugglers will pop up from within the flower fields to show off their magical skills.
You’ll be dazzled by tumbling, hoop diving and intricate costumes throughout your day amongst the florals. And if your children are absolutely obsessed, they can take a workshop with Circus Oz themselves. Fingers crossed they don’t plan on running away with the circus at the end of the day!

5. Getting out of the house
Finally, the best, if not most boring, reason to go visit the Kabloom Flower Festival is simply to get out of the house. Autumn can be a dreary time of the year. Being able to visit colourful flower displays will brighten up even the cloudiest of days.
