Tropical Queensland doesn’t seem like the right place for sled dog racing but tell that to the dozens of dogs and mushers who have gathered at dawn for the Red Mile Muster. With no snow on the ground, mushers race in purpose-built rigs, bikes, scooters or even just run with their dog. While most people may associate the sport with Arctic breeds like Huskies and Malamutes, the sport is open to everyone to enjoy including any dog breed that simply loves to run. Dr Harry meets the participants… and dogs… that make up this exhilarating sport.
