Working dog breeds are right at home in rural Australia, rounding up sheep and cattle, but when they find themselves as pets in suburban backyards, they can become a handful without the right training, exercise or mental stimulation. On the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Dr Harry meets a man who trains city slicker working dogs to tap into the herding instincts they were born with. But this training doesn’t just benefit the dogs, it also helps strengthen the bond with their owners.
