Now that winter has well and truly arrived, we’re getting lots of use out of our winter woolies.
But there are always a few old jumpers in the back of the wardrobe that don’t fit or are out-of-date. Instead of relegating them to the bin (and landfill), why not give them a stylish update and turn them into fingerless gloves?
They’re quick and simple to make. All you need is a pre-loved jumper and a few sewing supplies.
What you will need
Pre-loved Jumper
Scissors
Pins
Needle

Instructions
Step 1
Starting from the hem of the jumper, cut a rectangle 30.5cm (12 inches) high and 20cm (8 inches) wide through both the front and back of the jumper and cut along the side seam, so you have two pieces.
Step 2
Next, fold each piece lengthwise with the insides facing out. Mark the thumbhole with pins at 6cm (2½ inches wide) and 5cm (2 inches) from the top.
Step 3
Sew 1cm (½ inch) from the edge, leaving the thumb hole open. Reinforce the thumbhole with a separate topstitch. Then sew a 1cm (½ inch) hem at the bottom.
Now you’ve got a new pair of cosy fingerless gloves!
