How-to steps:
- Spread the drop sheet out onto a flat surface, measure and mark 600mm x 700mm then cut with scissors.
- Begin with the aqua paint at the top corner, using the brush to make evenly spaced strokes about 50mm long. TIP: Change the length of the strokes for each row, but keep the gaps between them even.
- Clean and dry the brush, then use it to add highlights of white paint over the aqua strokes, keeping the motion feather-light for a smudged effect. TIP: Start near the top of the dark strokes to lightly brush the white to halfway down.
- Leave the paint to dry thoroughly by hanging the cloth from the corners in a warm, airy spot.
- Spray the pine with adhesive, centre the foam and press it into place.
- Centre the pine-and-foam base face down on the wadding. Beginning on one side, fold the wadding over and secure at the centre with three staples. TIP: Always position the staple gun so that it sits flat on the surface to shoot.
- On the opposite side, pull the wadding taut to secure the centre with three staples.
- At the ends, pull the wadding taut to secure the centres.
- Work around the base, pulling the wadding taut to staple, ensuring the top and sides are smooth and crease free.
- Use scissors to trim the wadding from the corners, using the foam as a guide to cut downwards, then trim the edges about 10mm from the staples.
- Lay the cloth upside-down and position the base with the wadding face down, checking the painted pattern is centred.
- Beginning on one side, fold the cloth over and secure at the centre with three staples. On the opposite side, pull the cloth taut to staple the centre, then secure the ends.
- From the centres, work around the base, pulling the cloth taut and stapling, ensuring the top and sides are smooth, stopping about 50mm from the corners.
- Use the scissors to trim the bulk and cut away a 150mm square from each corner then trim the edges about 20mm from the staples.
- Fold the corners, tucking the sides into the ends, the same way you’d wrap a present, stapling to secure. TIP: Push the cloth into the fold with a pencil for a neat finish.
- Use a combination square to position the plates 25mm from the edges then use a drill to secure with the supplied screws.
- Use a #8 drill bit to make a hole through the centres of the leg plates, angling the drill to match the plate.
- Install the legs, twisting them to tighten.
