How do you make homemade antifungal spray?
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup of milk
- 10 cups of water
- spray bottle
Here’s how:
To stop fungus from developing, mix 1 cup of milk with 10 cups of water, pour in a spray bottle and get trigger happy under a full sun.
It’s believed milk’s protein has an antiseptic effect when exposed to strong light.
How to stop fungus growing on your roses
Roses are especially susceptible to black spot, rust and powdery mildew when not effectively pruned. But if you want a bushy shrub, mix 4 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda (it stops germination of the fungi) with 2 litres of water, add a drop of vegetable oil (to fix the potion to the leaves) and a drop of biodegradable dishwashing liquid (to help mix spread on leaves). Then spray and leave on foliage.
Be vigilant and check the underside of leaves, as that’s where butterfly and moth eggs are laid rose bushes need to be pruned to ensure good air flow so fungi don’t come.
Is vinegar a good fungicide?
Vinegar can also be used as a fungicide on your plants. Mix up diluted mixture of 50ml to every 1L of water and spray on your plants.
What causes powdery mildew to grow?
Too much rain and humidity – most often caused by weather but also by plant overcrowding – can cause powdery mildew and black spots on vegetable foliage.
Tomatoes can become infested with many types of fungi when they don’t get enough sunlight and/or get too much moisture.
So make sure you position them in full sun and water the soil, not the leaves or the fruit!

These are preventative measures, not cures. If your leaves become diseased, it’s best you remove them to stop the spread, and also destroy them.
