With tooth decay on the rise in Australians, taking care of our oral hygiene has never been more important. It's not only a prevalent issue with children, but 32% of Australian adults also have untreated tooth decay.
It comes to no surprise as according to the recent report by Australia’s Oral Health Tracker, only 53% of the nation regularly brush their teeth twice a day.
General Manager of Grin Natural, Mark Hitchcock, says “Untreated decay in children’s teeth can have far-reaching implications including gum disease, premature loss of primary teeth as well as impaired speech development, depression, reduced self-esteem and confidence, all of which reach into adulthood. This is why it is critical to shine a light on the importance of good oral hygiene for those who may not have considered this to be a crucial part of their overall health and wellbeing.”
He goes on to say, “There is a compelling argument for creating a healthy routine of brushing twice a day and flossing in conjunction with a healthy diet. The Grin Kids Dental Flossers and Complete Starter Pack were designed by Grin with the support of dentists, with the explicit goal to help parents create a proper oral care routine that kids would enjoy, and one that would set them up for a lifetime of good oral care habits”.
General Dentist and Grin Natural Oral Care Expert, Dr. Erica Tam, adds, “Flossing is so important in preventing tooth decay because you may not see it or feel it, but there is cavity causing plaque and bacteria between your teeth that needs to be removed with floss.”
