When Adelaide blogger Iryna Federico transformed her kitchen pantry, its immaculate storage and pastel-hued perfection caused a stir on social media.
The cupboard-under-the-sink makeover came next.
And now Australia’s queen of organisation is back with a new project: her ensuite bathroom.
“I like to keep our bathroom bench completely clear so I have a nice, clean space to work with when I’m getting ready,” Ms Federico explained on her blog.
“It also makes cleaning the bathroom a breeze because you don’t have to move anything to wipe benches down. I try and have a spot for everything we use in either a cupboard or a drawer to achieve a clear and spacious look,” she added.
For the makeover, Ms Federico hacked low-cost products from Ikea, Kmart, Spotlight and Bunnings.
A Kmart wire file rack, for example, was turned on its side and used to organise the hair dryer and hair styling tools.
“Originally, I kept all of my beauty products in a large basket and they would all sort of be thrown in there. It looked okay but wasn’t the most efficient way of organising things because my items were scattered and not categorized,” she explained.
Ms Federico used magazine files from Spotlight to organise all of her beauty products.
“I had a chunk cut out of two so they could fit around the awkward plumbing in the bathroom,” she said.
Ms Federico also hacked $1 acrylic pen holders from Kmart by using Velcro to attach them to the shelves so they can be removed and washed.
“I added some black handles I picked up from Bunnings to make the files easier to slide out. I screwed them directly into the wooden magazine files,” she explained.
Ms Federico used custom-made labels to achieve her signature organisation style.
She used black tags from eBay and added white vinyl stickers from Pretty.Little.Designs.
Ms Federico also organised her husband’s bathroom products.
“My husband is super easy-going about all my crazy organisation and as long as it works and functions well, he doesn’t care what it looks like,” she told Better Homes and Gardens.
Ms Federico estimates that she spent $100 on the storage makeover.
“The only items I purchased were the magazine files and the handles, which were both on sale. This totalled about $100,” she explained.
Overall, the entire project took a few hours to complete.
“First, I took everything out and decluttered what was in each cupboard to see what we actually needed to keep. Then I cleaned the cupboards and arranged all my new items and labeled them. The most time consuming part was adding the handles to the magazine files,” she said.
