Have you ever opened up your pantry or wardrobe and been (un)welcomed by the flapping of moths’ wings? Or even worse – you’ve found one while sifting your flour or making house in your pasta! While a couple of moths here and there aren’t a big deal, their presence can quickly tip over to a total infestation.

If moths have got you – and your home – down, there’s a simple remedy to rid your home of this annoying pest. The best part? No harsh chemicals involved!

What you’ll need:

  • Spray bottle
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Eucalyptus, peppermint and cedarwood essential oils

Method:

Completely empty out your cupboard of all food or clothing (moths love to hide in crevices, so you have to leave no stone unturned!).

Mix equal parts water and vinegar in your spray bottle. Add about 15 drops of eucalyptus, 5 drops of peppermint, and 10 of cedarwood essential oils.

Simply, spray the solution on surfaces and wipe with a cloth.

How to prevent pantry moths

Now that you’ve ridden your cupboard of these pesky insects, lay down the ground rules and take some preventative measures. Ensure your food is stored in tightly sealed containers, lay out some bay leaves around the shelving (moths hate them!), and if you feel the need to, purchase a sticky pheromone moth trap from your nearest supermarket.
