Vodka is a multi-tasking miracle cleaner, guaranteed to cut through grease and sticky messes. An inexpensive bottle of vodka is the perfect option when you’ve tried everything else, or when you need an effective cleaner in a pinch.
Here are 12 of the best uses for vodka around the house.
1. All-purpose cleaner
Ran out of surface spray? Use vodka in a spray bottle and use it to wipe down benchtops and surfaces.
2. Make flowers last longer
Add a few drops of vodka and a teaspoon of sugar to the water to prolong the life of cut flowers.
3. Clean cutting boards
Disinfect a washed cutting board by spraying it with vodka before rinsing it.
4. Remove mould
Spray any mould-affected areas with straight vodka and allow to saturate, before wiping it clean.
5. Clean diamonds
Soak diamond rings in vodka and massage gently with an old toothbrush to remove oils and debris.
6. Glass cleaner
Pour vodka into a spray bottle and use a microfibre cloth to wipe down glass and mirrors.
7. Bathroom cleaner
Vodka removes soap scum and water spots on stainless steel in the bathroom.
8. Remove insects from plants
