Watch: How To Build An Easy Coffee Table
It’s unfortunate that coffee mugs are usually white on the inside, especially for those who love a strong espresso in the morning.
Coffee stains on clothing and coffee rings on the tablecloth can be easily removed with an easy wash, but you can’t say the same about the vessel that actually holds the delicious liquid in it.
So, how do you clean coffee stains from mugs?
Luckily, we’ve got the answer for you, and it’s the most simple solution you could think of – baking soda!
Using baking soda to clean coffee stained mugs
Baking soda or bicarb soda is an almighty product when you think about what it can clean; ovens, white shoes and now, coffee mugs. Here’s the best method for it:
Mix some water with baking soda to create a thick paste consistency. Dab a scrubby sponge into the paste mixture and use it to clean the mug.
If you don’t want another dirty dish, you could even make the paste right in the mug and scrub out the stains that way. After scrubbing, simply rinse out the paste.
Alternative ways to clean coffee mugs
If you don’t have any baking soda handy, here are some other ways to clean coffee mugs stains using general household products:
- Lemon: This method is as straight forward as possible. Simply cut a lemon wedge and press into the stains on your coffee mug. Rub vigorously and rinse when complete.
- White vinegar: Fill your stained coffee mug with boiling water and a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar. Let it sit for a couple of minutes before scrubbing off any coffee residues.
- Bar Keepers Friend and steel wool: Wet the inside of your mug and sprinkle Bar Keepers Friend across the coffee stains. Let it sit for up to ten minutes before scrubbing with steel wool. Use caution with this method as steel wool can scratch or damage ceramic mugs.
