There’s not much that could beat spending the day at a stunning country winery, sampling the menu and watching the world go by…but a winery with lots of cute sheep wandering about might do it! This week, Dr Harry is meeting Stephanie and Ben, a couple who run a boutique vineyard called The Vintner’s Daughter in the heart of Canberra’s cool climate wine region.
Recently, the pair started to look for ways to improve the quality of their grapes and make the winery more economical and sustainable. Steph discovered Babydoll sheep – an English breed of sheep that have recently made their way to Australia. Not only are they the best natural lawnmowers, they are tiny enough to fit underneath the grape vines and chomp on the grass there, too. The couple are now the proud owners of a small flock of 30 sheep. Plus they keep emus, goats, chooks, peacocks and dogs too! Dr Harry’s stopping by to meet the menagerie and squeeze in a little wine tasting.
