Tonight, Harry meets Tex O’Grady, a retired submariner and 20-year veteran of the Royal Australian Navy. For years Tex and his trusty Blue Heeler, Bundy, travelled around Australia on a motorbike raising money for charity and shining a light on mental health issues, particularly Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. When Bundy retired, Tex traded-in his biker’s jacket for a skipper’s cap and returned to his first love, the ocean. Having seen first-hand how dogs and sailing have a calming effect on people that suffer from PTSD, Tex and his new dog, Sheila now take veterans on tours aboard his boat, the SV Mystic. These sailing tours act as a therapy program where veterans learn a little about sailing, bond and heal together.
Sailing for Veterans offers the opportunity to veterans and EMS personnel suffering from PTSD to spend a day sailing on the SV Mystic, free of charge. To find out more about this amazing organisation or to make a donation visit https://www.facebook.com/SV-Mystic-Sailing-for-VeteransEMS
