It’s all fun and games until your cheese grater is clogged with cheese.
Luckily, there is an easy way to clean it: all you need is a raw potato.
Next time you find your grater covered in sticky cheese, grate each side with a raw potato before rinsing.
The potato pushes the cheese through, making it much easier to clean.
Don’t have a potato handy? A lemon wedge will also work.
“Lemons are natural grease cutters,” says Melissa Maker, the brains behind the Clean My Space website.
Cut the lemon in half. Using the pulp side, rub the wedge over the grater. Some of the pulp will find it’s way into the holes but that’s okay, the acidity of the lemon will help cut the grease. Leave for a few minutes and rinse with hot water, giving an additional scrub with the lemon if required.
