What’s your go-to store when it comes to pet purchases for your four-legged friends? Do you order fluffy toys and cute accessories online but pick up the essentials like dog food on your supermarket run?
Well, the next time you’re lining up for a snag at Bunnings, you can also grab a treat off the shelves for your pooch.
Starting Saturday 25 March, the hardware giant is expanding its current pet range by rolling out close to 700 new products. If you’ve shopped for your pets at Bunnings before you’re well aware that the range is quite limited and only includes a small range of dog beds, kennels and animal hutches. However the new drop of products will include dry food, grooming tools, carriers, training accessories, smart technology for dogs, cats and birds.
“Our ability to buy bulk volume products, to merchandise that in an appealing way” is the group’s main strength when it comes to the animal products market, Schneider said.
For the six million-plus dog owners across the country, these new products will make the weekly or monthly shop for canines convenient.
But with Bunnings’ promise to offer the lowest price on stocked items, it will be interesting to see how other pet speciality stores and retailers compete.
