A Los Angeles brewery has upped the ante with an avocado ale.
The ale was created for Avocado Fest, which happens every summer at the Angel City Brewery & Public House.
The ale is made with California grown avocados, avocado honey, cilantro, and lime juice.
While the beer is getting a lot of attention, the reaction on social media has been mixed.
“Please never make either of these,” one person commented on Facebook.
Another commenter asked: “Has science gone too far?”
Despite the online reaction, Brewer Matt Crockett, Wayward Brewing CO. in Camperdown says the combination “could work”.
“My initial impression wasn’t particularly positive but after seeing the video of them adding lime juice and coriander it started to seem like it could work.”
As for the beers, the brewers at Wayward Brewing Co. like to work with fruit.
“Otherwise all kinds of fruit, but also coffee,” says Matt, adding, “We’ve just bottled an Imperial Stout aged in Jack Daniels barrels, with the addition of coffee.”
