Your new (easy!) weight-loss habits

1. Make being active easy: Let’s face it – we don’t always want to hit the gym or go for a swim. Make things easy for yourself by planning ahead for those days when you’re not feeling the exercise love. Always have clean workout gear ready, keep a pair of running shoes by the front door, or stash a Frisbee in your glove box, ready to toss around with a friend or the kids.

2. Have a personal mantra: Whether it’s ‘I will cook a new healthy meal each week’, or ‘I will commit to taking a 10-minute walk on my lunch break’, find a mantra that’s specific to you – this will help you get into a positive mindset.

3. Dig it! Beautifying your garden can boost your vitamin D levels, improve your mood and help you burn kilojoules. Plus, if you plant healthy herbs or vegetables, then you can cook from your own garden. Win-win-win!

4. Try a TV workout: Want to sneak more exercise into your day? Work out in the ad breaks of your favourite 60-minute show. Try lifting weights, doing some gentle stretches, or running the vacuum over the living room floor.

5. Be a water baby: Do you struggle to drink eight glasses of water a day? Set an alarm on your computer or mobile phone every hour to remind you to have a few sips – this will help you feel fuller, and boost your overall health, too.

6. Take a time out: Stress can cause weight gain and fluctuations in your blood glucose levels. Cut back on stress by taking a few minutes each day to do something that relaxes you, whether that’s sitting in the sun, listening to music, or just looking up something funny online.

7. Eat up in the morning: Studies show that eating breakfast sets you up to make healthier, more nutritious choices throughout the day than if you were to skip it. Head to our recipe section for some brekkie inspiration.
