There will be stalls for sampling the best local produce from growers in Canberra and the surrounding region, and children’s entertainment at KidzKlub. Sunday afternoons include picnics and Jazz in the Park with special guest Emma Pask. There will be workshops at The Greenhouse interactive space suitable for both aspiring gardeners and established green thumbs alike, as well Floriade’s ticketed after-dark experience, NightFest, back by popular demand.
NightFest will run from September 26 to 30 and you can expect illuminated flower beds, local food and drink stalls, nightly entertainment, lighting installations and even an open-air cinema. Saturday turns it up with Party NightFest, and Sunday gets an MA15+ comedy line-up featuring Arj Barker, Akmal Saleh, The Stevenson Experience, Chris Ryan and Matt Okine
Featuring a jam-packed program drawing inspiration from this year’s theme, Pop Culture, festival-goers will see an array of retro-inspired flowerbeds showcasing some of the 20th Century’s most iconic figures in music, film, literature and social media. With something for everyone, people can expect Marilyn Monroe and Ken Done inspired creations alongside beds dedicated to Grug, the Rubik’s Cube and what’s sure to be a crowd favourite, Where’s Wally.
Floriade wraps up on Sunday 14 October with Dogs’ Day Out, featuring a superhero dress up Pop Culture theme.
