The must-see flower festival coming to Canberra this spring

Floriade flower festival is one of the largest floral events in Australia, and this year the iconic event has a pop culture theme sure to tickle the fancy of every flower enthusiast who attends.

The premier flower festival takes place in Canberra’s Commonwealth Park from September 15 to October 14, and will focus on delivering an exciting, diverse and innovative program.

There will be stalls for sampling the best local produce from growers in Canberra and the surrounding region, and children’s entertainment at KidzKlub. Sunday afternoons include picnics and Jazz in the Park with special guest Emma Pask. There will be workshops at The Greenhouse interactive space suitable for both aspiring gardeners and established green thumbs alike, as well Floriade’s ticketed after-dark experience, NightFest, back by popular demand.

NightFest will run from September 26 to 30 and you can expect illuminated flower beds, local food and drink stalls, nightly entertainment, lighting installations and even an open-air cinema. Saturday turns it up with Party NightFest, and Sunday gets an MA15+ comedy line-up featuring Arj Barker, Akmal Saleh, The Stevenson Experience, Chris Ryan and Matt Okine

Featuring a jam-packed program drawing inspiration from this year’s theme, Pop Culture, festival-goers will see an array of retro-inspired flowerbeds showcasing some of the 20th Century’s most iconic figures in music, film, literature and social media. With something for everyone, people can expect Marilyn Monroe and Ken Done inspired creations alongside beds dedicated to Grug, the Rubik’s Cube and what’s sure to be a crowd favourite, Where’s Wally.

Floriade wraps up on Sunday 14 October with Dogs’ Day Out, featuring a superhero dress up Pop Culture theme.

As the last day of #Floriade2017 dawns the Floriade team can't help but reflect on the last month. Full to the seams with floral fabulousness, foodie favourites and family fun, what we remember the most is the smiles on our visitors' faces as they explore our floral feast. Let's do it all again one last time today! 📷 @spenciespencephotography

Our taste buds are tantalised just thinking about this fudgey goodness. Once we learn how to make these delicacies it's brownie cows for breakfast, lunch and dinner for us! 🔎 Tickets are $31.70 and available via the exclusive experiences link in our bio. This workshop will run at 5:30pm on Thursday 12 October. 📷 @saintvalentinecbr

In our minds it isn't officially spring until we've seen the sights of Floriade from the top of the Ferris wheel 🎡And for these beauties we thank the amazing @carolelvin
