In a recent video posted posted to Facebook, bloggers Project Nightfall revealed that the Aussie banknote contains animal by-products.
And according to The Morning Bulletin, The Reserve Bank of Australia has confirmed that the note contains around 1 per cent tallow - animal fat sourced from sheep, pigs and cows, supposedly to help prevent friction and static.
Both the vegan community and religious groups reacted negatively to the footage.
The post already has nearly 700 thousand views with over 5000 shares.
While many were angered, others joked that"(A)ny of the vegans who don’t want their money due to this, just send it my way, I will dispose of it properly for you.”
