1. You can’t fit everything in there
In terms of lifestyle and needs, if you can no longer fit the food you need to feed your family into the fridge, then it’s time you upgraded so the appliance better serves the household.
2. You can’t remember when you bought it
If your fridge is more than nine years old then it’s probably due to be replaced. Technology and energy efficiency is developing all the time, so that old fridge could be costing you more in energy bills than you realise.
3. Damaged seals
If the seals on your fridge are damaged and your fridge is more than six years old, then it’s definitely time for a replacement. Some newer fridges can have the seals replaced, but weigh up whether the repair cost is worth it, or would be better going towards a new fridge.
4. Food going rotten quickly
If your food has started turning sooner than usual, and going rotten quicker than you expected, then it may be the fault of your fridge. Get the fridge checked out, because if it’s more than five years old, it could be a sign that the temperature is no longer being regulated correctly and cannot be fixed. Some newer fridges can be repaired.
5. It’s loud
A normal fridge should make a small amount of noise, like a quiet continuous hum. However, if your fridge has started making a racket, then the compressor might be damaged.
