What is bronzer?
Available in liquid, cream and powder form and usually in a brown and golden colour palette, bronzers provide warmth and dimension, giving your face and neck a natural lift. Layer the product after applying your base for a defined sculpt or mix your liquid bronzer into your moisturiser to bring a healthy, warm glow to your complexion for a beachy radiance without the sandy hair.
Who should wear bronzer?
Who doesn’t need a little pick-me-up from time to time? Applied correctly, bronzers are fitting for all ages. Blended down the centre of your neck, and across your jawline will sharpen your chin and reduce the visible signs of age from your décolletage.
Which bronzer is best for you?
Although many bronzers are tones of burnt orange and browns, bronzer is not a universal shade. To avoid the muddy, orange tan a mismatched product will give you, look for one which is no more than two shades darker than your skin tone. Follow these tips for selecting the perfect bronzer for your complexion.
If you have a fair complexion: Look for a bronzer that is taupe or beige in colour and has no shimmer. While these bronzers may seem dull, they will complement your skin to give you a natural, sun-kissed glow.
If you have a medium to olive complexion: The majority of the golden-brown bronzers will suit you. However, it’s equally important for your to steer clear of bronzers that are too dark, and bronzers that are too light as these can wash you out.
If you have a darker complexion: Opt for a bronzer with a golden shimmer that is no more than two shades darker than your skin tone for highlighted, glowing skin.
How to apply bronzer
Don’t fall into the trap of using bronzer for full-face coverage as it will leave you with an unflattering and muddy-looking tan. It works best when it’s subtle so be light handed.
To apply, imagine you’re creating an inward facing ‘3’ on either side of your face. Doing one side at a time, dust or blend the bronzer over your temple then lightly sweep it down the side of your face and over your cheekbone. To finish, lightly sweep the bronzer along your jawline and then use what’s left on your brush to blend a little over the area under your chin. Repeat for the other side.
Now embrace your new sun-kissed-glow.
