How to seal a leaking downpipe

When's the last time you checked your downpipes? If you've noticed some leaks, it might be worth checking the joins to ensure it's not causing any unseen damage to your property.

The joins between building materials are hot spots for water leaks! And, if the water is getting inside, it’s causing damage you usually can’t see, making repairs a huge priority. A silicone compound that sticks to wet surfaces is the answer.

Clean the surface with a scourer to remove any dirt or grease from around the leak area.

Apply a generous bead of silicone to the join, using the nozzle to force it right into the leak. Once the water has stopped, smooth off the silicone flush with the surface.
