It's easy to overlook the fact that the conditions inside your garage aren’t ideal for some items.
Here's a list of things you should never store in your garage.
Paint
The garage gets hot in summer and cools in winter, making it less than ideal to store paint. Store the paint in a dry and cool place out of the direct sunlight, also ensuring it does not freeze.
Second fridge
Where you position your fridge affects how it performs. Placing your fridge in a space with changing temperatures, like your garage, means it has to work harder.
Wooden furniture
Be careful when storing wooden furniture in your garage. Wood can be affected by both humid and damp conditions, causing the fibres to swell and contract.
Books and electronics
Packing up unused books, old photo albums and electronics into boxes and storing them in the garage is a great way to clear space in your house. However, these items are susceptible to moisture.
