While this is a moderate knitting pattern, we've gathered everything you need to know. So even if you are starting out, it's definitely worth giving it a try.
Tension
11 sts and 12 rows to measure 10x10cm over st st using 12mm needles.
Measurements
20cm wide and 160cm long.
Abbreviations
Kfbf knit into the front, back and front of the next st [2 sts inc’d].
Ktl insert RH needle through all three loops of k3tog st on row below from left to right, wrap yarn around needle and draw through loops, knit next st on LH needle, insert LH needle through first two sts on RH needle from left to right and k2tog.
What you'll need:
- Bernat Softee Chunky (100% acrylic, 99m/100g) 2 balls of each: Yarn A Hot Pink (28416), Yarn B Brass (28807), 1 ball of: Yarn C Soft Taupe (28011)
- A pair of 12mm needles
- A chunky crochet hook (optional, for tassels)
Chunky knitted scarf pattern
Cast on 21 sts using 12mm needles and Yarn A.
Knit 1 row.
Foundation row Kfbf, *k3tog, kfbf; rep from * to end.
**Change to Yarn B.
Row 1 K3, *ktl, K3; rep from * to end.
Row 2 K3tog, *kfbf, k3tog; rep from * to end.
Change to Yarn A.
Row 3 Ktl, *K3, ktl; rep from * to end.
Row 4 Kfbf, *k3tog, kfbf; rep from * to end.
Repeat from ** until Scarf measures approx 160cm.
Cast off and weave in ends.
Tassels
Cut 40 strands of Yarn C, each measuring approx 40cm. Holding 4 strands together, fold in half and draw centre through bottom of one edge of the Scarf. Draw ends of strands through loop made and pull tightly. Repeat process to create 5 tassels evenly along short edges of scarf. Trim to neaten once finished.
