Step 2 Carefully remove orchid from plastic pot by lightly squeezing base until roots come loose.
Step 3 Untangle and remove material surrounding orchid roots – here, sphagnum moss – taking care not to damage root system.
Step 4 Put orchid in container, mounding soil around base of plant to keep upright.
Step 5 Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to prepare other plants, discarding any excess soil.
Step 6 Plant silver brake fern behind orchid, digging a hole in soil for root ball. This will add height at the back.
Step 7 Plant peperomia plant at front. This will act as a groundcover to complete the tiered effect.
Step 8 Fill gaps between plant root balls with potting mix to level soil.
Step 9 Use a long-handled spoon to add small amounts of soil or to shuffle things around a little, if necessary.
Step 10 Add reindeer moss to cover some of the soil.
Step 11 Use a spray bottle to water your terrarium when soil is dry to touch.
