Shop at Woolies this Saturday to help farmers in need

Offering relief to drought-affected farmers - by Laura Barry

Shop at Woolies this Saturday to help farmers in need

This Saturday August 11 Woolworths will be donating all profits from their fresh food department to drought-affected farmers. All profits on sales of fruit, vegetables, meat, the chilled section, bakery and deli will be donated to Australian farmers via Buy a Bale, a charitable organisation that gets supplies to Australia’s rural communities and farmers that are doing it tough in one of the toughest, longest droughts the country has seen.

Woolworths on Twitter

Woolworths have reactivated their Drought Action drive and have donated $1.5 million dollars to Rural Aid, the parent organisation of Buy A Bale. Woolworths reports the funds will double Rural Aid's efforts in purchasing and delivering stock feed, household supplies and providing counselling services for drought-affected farmers.

You can also make a donation to Rural Aid’s Buy A Bale appeal at any Woolworths checkout and follow the progress of your support on the Rural Aid website.

Sunrise on Twitter

This initiative is just the latest instalment in efforts Woolworths have made to help Aussie farmers and follows last week’s news that Woolworths would be matching Sunrise’s Cash Cow prize money and donate $10,000 a day to farmers in need via Rural Aid in collaboration with the early breakfast program.
