The best places to see Western Australia’s famous wildflowers

The best places to see Western Australia’s famous wildflowers

Western Australia is home to more than 12,000 species of beautiful wildflowers, 60 per cent of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The flowering season starts in June and July, when the vast plains of outback Australia in Pilbara, Goldfields and Coral Coast fill with colour. The contrast between the red desert earth and the technicolour blooms is truly something to behold. By the time spring rolls around in September, the wildflowers are finally blooming in Perth.

Doggos and wildflowers, does it get any better than this! 🌼🐶🌸 #happyinternationaldogday 📸 Ellie Morris . . . . #WAVCWildflowerTracker #wavc #wawildflowers #justanotherdayinwa #wildflowercountry #nature #australiascoralcoast #dogs #dogsofinstagram #coralcoasthighway #wildflowerseason #perthisok #wildflowersofinstagram #thisiswa #amazingwa #shireofmingenew

However, if you want to see the best of the blooms this year, there’s a handy little tracker app that can help with that.

This year the state of Western Australia has launched an interactive wildflower tracker that will be updated regularly with reports of where the latest wildflower bloomings are happening, so users have an accurate guide of where to snap the perfect Insta-shot.

🎵 Look at the flowers, look how they shine for you 💛, and everything you do, yeah they were all yellow 😜🌻! If you're travelling through the vast array of wildflowers in @australiascoralcoast during this season, we guarantee, like us, you'll have this song stuck in your head too 🎶. @cjmaddock have been frolicking and reaping the benefits of the good winter rains resulting in a kaleidoscope of extraordinary Everlasting blooms spreading out as far as the eye can see. 🙌 If you're asking whether #Coalseam Conservation Park really is this vibrant, plan a #roadtrip before the end of spring to see this yellow haven for yourself! #justanotherdayinWA #thisisWA #WesternAustralia #seeaustralia #australiascoralcoast

And if getting that perfect shot is more your thing, the app allows you to upload photos and videos of time amongst the wildflowers. It’s exactly what you need to find the best wildflower sites this year. Prefer to go old school? You can download a map from the Western Australia tourism website.
