Turns out the strap on your shoulder that's secured by a button isn't farshion but rather there to stop handbags from slipping off your shoulder.
Taking to Twitter, Francheska Horsburgh shared the revelation with her followers: “Taken me 18 years to find out that the weird shoulder buttons on jackets is to hold your bag in place so it doesn’t fall off.”
So how did it come about? User Nick Stray responded with a picture of his own.
According to his source, the shoulder straps "were originally designed to keep back packs, ammunition pouches or bayonets from slipping off the shoulder."
Other twitterers were blown away with one suggesting it was the, "finding of the century".
