8 wardrobe organisation ideas that you’ve never heard before

An organised wardrobe can make a world of difference to your everyday life. It makes finding items of clothing and shoes easier, it makes getting dressed in the morning quicker, and it means you’ll wear more of your wardrobe simply because you can see more of it.

Here are eight wardrobe organisation ideas that will inspire you to re-organise and clean out your own wardrobe, and give your wardrobe layout a rethink. After all, an organised life is a happy life!

1. Wardrobe on a budget

If you’re short on cash but desperately need a stylish storage solution, why not attach some shelving and hanging space to a free wall, pop up a rail and hide the whole lot behind a curtain? Quick, easy, cheap and stylish.

2. Make a statement

This clever copper open wardrobe system not only provides hanging space and shelving for folded clothes, but there’s also room to use it for holding makeup, displaying pictures and decorative ornaments, and even enough visible wall to hang a mirror on. Shelving like this makes a statement and works in small space homes.

3. Think outside the box

Clothes and shoes don’t always have to be hidden. This room is the perfect example of using a bookshelf for shoe storage, a portable clothes rack for hanging space and a large chest of drawers that double as a dressing table for everything else. No built-ins or shelves required. This is a great option for renters.

4. Utilise a nook or alcove

While a recess in the wall such as this might usually be the place to put a desk, it’s actually a storage opportunity. Have shelves custom-fitted to the space, add a rail for hanging clothes and leave enough space at the bottom for baskets that can hide away shoes and bags.

5. Buy a bookshelf instead

Ditch the idea of a wardrobe altogether and embrace the convenience of bookshelves. A set of square shelves are perfect for storing everything - apart from coats and dresses that need to be hung. Once again, this is a great option for renters or those who don’t have a budget for built-ins. Use baskets for socks and underwear, while the flat top can be used as a dressing table.

6. Hang what you can, fold what you can’t

Simply by having all your clothing hung up or folded and within view means everything is easily within reach. Plus, it looks super neat!

7. No space? No problem

If you have a tiny amount of space but you need to store as much as possible, an open-shelving system such as this is the way to go. There’s plenty of space for shoes, hanging racks, shelves for folded clothes and drawers for socks and underwear, plus up-top storage.

8. Give the bed a boost

Give the bed a boost and use the space underneath for additional shelving and storage.
