Sydney literally lights up from Friday, 27th May which marks the beginning of Vivid Sydney 2016.
With everything else happening around Sydney during the spectacular light festival which runs until the 18th June, a large-scale immersive contemporary food and wine event will take place over two winter evenings on the 4th and 18th of June.
The event, called The Night Market, will be held at Carriageworks, which is housed in the old Eveleigh Rail Yards in the Redfern Waterloo precinct. It is also home to the Carriageworks Farmers Market that features seasonal produce and runs every Saturday from 8am to 1pm.
Acclaimed chef Mike McEnearney of Kitchen by Mike fame, who now heads up No.1 Bent St in Sydney’s CBD, is the curator of The Night Market and has lined up 50 stallholders representing some of New South Wales’ leading restaurants and providores.
The impressive line up includes Billy Kwong, Iceburgs, Pepe Saya, Single Origin Roaster, Young Henrys Brewing Company, Pukara Estate, Thievery, Porteno, Kurrawong Organics, Efendy, Juicing by Colours, Archie Rose, Gumnut Chocolates and Biscuits and Neo Organic Tea. This list goes on….
The theme is ‘Cooking with Fire’ and visitors are invited to engage with and learn from leading chefs as they cook live with flames.
Entry to the markets is free of charge.
