8 reasons you need to visit the State Rose & Garden Show this year

The Victoria State Rose Garden is considered to be one of Australia’s best rose gardens, and is recognised by the international World Federation of Rose Societies, so you know you’re going to be in for a treat when it hosts an event as big as the State Rose & Garden Show.

Just a 30-minute drive from Melbourne, the State Rose & Garden Show is a free event open from November 9 to 10, from 10am to 4pm each day, and this year is home to quite an array of events and entertainment.

Info for sunday 26th Nov. Please be aware that due to a ticketed concert being held next door in the Werribee Park Mansion area at 11am there may be traffic congestion and parking difficulties. Be patient or come early if you are thinking about visiting the Victoria State Rose Garden or try midweek.

8 reasons you need to visit the State Rose & Garden Show this year

1. The roses

There will be six acres of garden to explore, rose-lined pathways and 5000 floral displays that will delight young and old.

 2. The demonstrations

Even the most experienced gardeners will learn a thing or two at the live plant care demonstrations and guided tours. Keep an eye out for plan experts such as South Australia’s ‘Indoors Outdoors’ gardening guru Kim Syrus, Gardening Australia’s Jane Edmanson, with more to be announced.

3. The food trucks

Grab a bite to eat at the excellent selection of food trucks that will be serving up snacks all weekend.

4. The Wine and Beer Garden

On Saturday, visitors will be able to enjoy some smooth brews in the rose-filled wine and beer garden, with craft beers, ciders, wine and Roseade paired with Bluebonnet Barbecue’s American style fare.

5. The Prosecco Van

Is there anything better than enjoying a glass of prosecco while taking in the beautiful surrounds of a rose garden? We think not. On Sunday, it’s all about vintage glamour and indulgence with the Prosecco Van and Mrs. Baker’s Gin.

6. The ‘High Tea’ experience

On Sunday, enjoy a unique rose-inspired High Tea experience from the High Tea Mistress. There are two high tea packages available for pre-purchase; ‘Little Pleasures’ and ‘Afternoon Delight’ with prices starting at $30. Bookings are limited, with tickets available via the website www.stateroseandgardenshow.com.au. A limited number of bookings will also be available on the day.

7. Activities for the kids

There will also be mini-posy making workshop and kids’ activities, including children’s sandpit and garden craft, with magic wand and pot plant decoration.

8. Live music

No event is complete without the right tunes to set the mood, and this year the beautiful backdrop of Victoria State Gardens and Werribee mansion will be set to a soundtrack of summer-appropriate live music.
