You can celebrate spring in every corner of the garden. And even if you didn't plan a display, there are ways to create a flowery scene right now.

Nurseries are stuffed with seasonal flowers in full bloom – just team them with attractive containers, then stand back and admire your work. Get creative with plant combos, or just go for single bloomers in little pots. Either way, it's spring in an instant!

Hanging containers

We are home sweet home!! So glad to be home but definitely missing some of the fun things in LA. This beautiful shop was my favorite! Thanks @foliacollective 🌿enjoyed your shop very much!

Hanging containers put the show right at eye level. To mimic this gorgeous tricolour display, plant a yellow daisy in the centre, then skirt it with yellow and white nemesia and golden creeping Jenny (Lysimachia sp.)

Plant polyanthus

Brightening up a drizzly November Saturday with vibrant Polyanthus flowers. Another bedding plant that's a hero of the autumn - winter garden.

One of spring’s brightest little bloomers, polyanthus comes in a range of jewelbox colours, usually with a contrasting eye. Plant them in individual pots and line them up in a row – so sweet!

Create wooden planter boxes

Loved how this one turned out with the white rocks and new plants 😍👏👌💚 #loveplants #lovesucculents #lovegardening #lovetakingpictures #crazyforsucculents #cactusmagazine #creative #decorating #homedecor #succulents #cute #beautiful #plants #plantingideas #pretty #woodenplanterboxes #happy #haveagoodone

Turn up the charm factor by repurposing a few lovely old wooden boxes as planters. Line with plastic (pierce a few holes) before planting, or just sit potted flowers snugly inside the box. Here, grape hyacinths create a heavenly blue scene.

Add a blossom tree

Compose a colourful scene with a blossom tree (Cercis siliquastrum) in a wicker basket, then arrange a whole tableau of potted bloomers. Try primula, English daisies, pansies and grape hyacinths.

Use glazed pots

Glazed pots create the most impact when you plant them with contrasting flower colours. So for cobalt blue pots, think orange, white or yellow blooms. Here, orange pansies, grape hyacinths and white English daisies offer a burst of brilliance

Cinerarias

Cinerarias are early spring-blooming daisies with brilliant flowers in tight heads – they make perfect little posies. Long lasting, they grow in dappled or bright shade. Place by the front door and enjoy a touch of whimsy each and every morning!
