This German innovation is changing the game of sunbathing and has just taken out a national tourism award for its work.
Because kicking back on the beach is great, but kicking back on the beach without the lumps, bumps and sandy bums is even better.
The beach-sleeping baskets – known as Schlafstrandkörbe – were created by the Mensch Foundation in Schleswig-Holstein and just took out the “best touristic innovation” at the German Tourism Awards.
The beds can be found on beaches along the country’s Baltic coast and at a spacious 2.40 metres wide and 1.30 metres high, they offer a new level of comfort for shoreline sunning.
Plus, if you’ve enjoyed your beach day so much that you want to stay a little longer, your rental covers the night too. Each completely weatherproof basket comes sheets, blankets, pillows, a torch and a key to the ‘sanitary building’ nearby.
Oh, and spectacular beachfront views.
