The Negroni dates back to Italy in 1919 and was a variation on the classic Americano cocktail (Campari, Martini Rosso and soda). Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to make the drink stronger so (being a man of taste and style) he added gin. The ‘Count Negroni’ was born but it soon became known simply as the Negroni. It’s become one of the drinks of the current gin renaissance.
