Nothing ruins your holiday glow faster than finding out you've been robbed.
The best way to avoid this is by having someone housesit while you're away, but if that isn't an option, there's another line of defence worth implementing.
Have a neighbour collect your mail and take care of bins, but importantly make your home looked lived in.
Natasha Morgan, Home Security and Pet Care expert says something as simple as leaving old shoes at the front door can help.
"Leave a pair of your old shoes at the front door and at the back door," said Natasha. "This will create the feeling that someone is inside."
Natasha added: "If someone was to look through a window, it’s a good idea to leave a few things scattered around that to make the home look lived in, an open book and a pair of glasses on the arm of a chair or a few toys in the middle of the floor."
