Potted wall project
If there’s not much room left on the balcony floor, it’s time to take advantage of the space on the walls! You can go out and buy vertical garden kits or you can simply secure your own pots to the wall. Here, herbs have been planted in different coloured pots and attached to the wall with concrete screws.
Gather your supplies
• Plastic pots in various colours (we used 18 and 15cm Eden plastic pots)
• Potting mix
• Selection of herbs
You’ll also need
Cordless drill; concrete screw drill bit; hex-head concrete screws; pot-plant filters; trowel
Here’s how
Step 1 Drill at least 3 drainage holes into base of pot, if necessary. Turn pot on side and drill a hole about 20mm down from lip. Repeat for remaining pots.
Step 2 Position pots against wall, angle to one side and secure to wall using concrete screws.
Step 3 Line base of pots with pot filters, then partially fill with potting mix. Position plant in pot. Using trowel, backfill and water.
