The first pomegranate hack video was originally shared on social media via twitter account @engineeringvids, and has since gone viral and inspired several people to attempt the hack at home.
In the video, a person can be seen cutting a square into the flesh of the top of the fruit, followed by 6 slices down the sides where the fruit protrudes, as you can see in the tweet below.
The hack should result in 6 neatly cut sections of fruit, making it easier to extract the delicious seeds.
Cut the fruit in half (through the middle, not navel to navel) and gently loosening the flesh by pulling the skin back from the centre gently. Then, place the pomegranate face down on your palm, then hit the back of the fruit in a firm yet controlled manner with a wooden spoon. Et voila! The seeds are released into the palm of your hand with no mess and no fuss. Watch the video below to see how it works.
