The makers of some of the most popular pet food brands including cat and dog favourites, Whiskas and Pedigree are set to raise their prices.
It comes after general manager of Mars Petcare Australia, Barry O’Sullivan told The Australian on Monday that the pet food company is being forced to up their prices due to increasing energy costs.
“Ultimately Australian consumers will need to pay a high price for our brands and our products,” Mr O’Sullivan said. “We only ever do that as an option of last resort. But when you are facing those sorts of cost pressures, you are left with no choice.”
Mars Petcare also looks after popular brands, Pal, Advance, Eukanuba, Chum, Dine, MyDog, Royal Canin, Optimum and Schmackos.
