It’s that time of year again. The Pantone Colour Institute has unveiled its Colour of the Year 2017.
And the winner is (drumroll, please!) Pantone 15-0343, otherwise known as Greenery. Fresh, zesty and full of life, this yellow-green represents new beginnings, according to the global colour authority.
“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment,” says Pantone's Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman.
“Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalise, Greenery symbolises the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”
Pantone made its first pick back in 2000 with Cerulean, a light blue. Then in 2016, the influencer chose two colours for the first time – Rose Quartz and Serenity, balancing a warm rose tone with cool, calm blue.
Feeling inspired to use green in your home? "Decorating with green has limitless possibilities – hardly surprising as it’s known as nature’s neutral," says Better Homes and Gardens' Decorating editor Dora Papas.
"It blends easily with almost every other colour. And while you may stop short of painting your walls green, it looks brilliant as a vibrant accent. Think statement chairs, floor rugs, cushions, throws, vases, lamps, pictures, posters and art."
